Our Story

A practice shaped by what clients actually need

Sebsan Counsel was established in Bangkok by a team of legal professionals who had each, in their earlier careers, observed how family estate matters were often handled with insufficient care — too quickly, with too much jargon, and without enough consideration for the emotional weight involved.

The practice takes its name from the Thai word for thoughtful deliberation. That deliberateness is central to how we work. We ask more questions than we provide answers in early conversations, because understanding your situation properly is more important than appearing efficient.

Our client base includes Thai families planning for the next generation, expatriates with assets across multiple jurisdictions, and individuals who have found themselves unexpectedly involved in a contested estate. What unites them is a preference for plain explanation over legal theatre.

Our Mission

"To help individuals and families move through inheritance matters with clarity, dignity, and the assurance that someone knowledgeable is listening."

Patience before process. We adapt to your pace, not the other way around.

Candour throughout. We tell you what we honestly know and where uncertainty lies.

Discretion as standard. Family matters stay private. Always.

How We Work

Professional standards we hold to

Thai Bar Registration

All counsel are registered members of the Lawyers Council of Thailand, maintaining full professional standing and compliance with applicable conduct rules.

Client Confidentiality

We observe strict professional confidentiality. Personal and family information shared with us is never disclosed to third parties without explicit instruction.

Documented Engagements

Every engagement begins with a clear written summary of scope and fee, so you know what we are doing and what it costs before any work proceeds.

Cross-Border Competence

We maintain working relationships with legal professionals in Singapore, the UK, and Australia for matters that extend beyond Thai jurisdiction.

Regular Communication

We commit to responding to client messages within one working day and to providing written progress updates at meaningful intervals.

Ethical Practice

We decline instructions that we believe are not in a client's genuine interest, or where we perceive potential harm to others involved in an estate matter.

Our Expertise

Legal support for inheritance matters in Thailand

Inheritance proceedings in Thailand are governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, which sets out distinct rules for testate and intestate succession, the rights of heirs, and the probate process. For foreign nationals, the picture becomes more involved, with questions of applicable law, property registration, and cross-border coordination often arising.

Sebsan Counsel focuses on this area of practice because it requires both legal precision and a degree of personal sensitivity that general practice firms do not always provide. An inheritance matter is rarely just a transaction. It often follows a bereavement, arises amid family complexity, or surfaces questions that the deceased did not address directly. Our approach acknowledges this.

We assist Bangkok-based individuals, Thai families with interests in multiple provinces, and expatriates living in Thailand who wish to bring their affairs into order while resident here. For those overseas, remote consultation is straightforward and consistently offered.

Our office on Rama IX Road in Huai Khwang is accessible by MRT and has been our base since the practice was founded. We find that meeting in person, when possible, helps establish the kind of trust that these conversations require.
